Not a big fan either but if you do it, you need to place them in a different location, having them in the "middle" of opening makes it worse.
Here's a quick chop where they are on top of the openings following the curvature of the opening, this way it looks less homemade.

and since we're on the subject of LED "spars" -- am I the only person who thinks they look silly on every car? Seems like most high-end cars have these now, and every time they drive by, I'm like, "why is there a string of Christmas lights on the front bumper? What the hell do those do, exactly?"
