I just had a look at the springs. The diameter of them looks more like 120mm. I'm sure these are stock diameter springs.

I'll need to look again. I thought they were marked with just these - H&R F/E, Porsche 993, KBA 90420, 29953 HA (R) but I'll check. I'll be back home shortly...

Hi Bill,

I've had another look at the springs but the only markings I can see are the ones I previously stated. Gert Carnewal supplied these springs as part of the Row M030 kit he supplies. The reason I got H&R springs was that the M030 springs were not available so Gert supplemented them with the H&R's. The B6 shocks have an extra 30mm thread. I've attached a couple of pictures of the springs...

Those appear to be stock wide (102mm/3.54") rear H&R sport springs

Do they use the stock shock top?

RS uses 68..77mm(3")

Cups 2.25"

I guess they do use the stock shock top mount other wise Gert Carnewel, who supplied the kit, would have indicated otherwise

Note that the rubber in the stock mount is meant to have the top coil nest in place finished as a helix that is not flat and the H&R spring is not flat.

This spring finish won't work right on an RS perch.

Springs designed for a spring perch like the RS perch are finished square at the top like this:

Looking at the Rennlist website and also their fitting instructions I would say that it definitely gives the impression that you can fit the rear mounts to standard suspension sizes.

So you didn't have any issues with the top hats not fitting like Jackal had? If that's the case then the Rennline mounts must be different to the RS.

Hi,

I'm afraid the issue is also a little more complex than the width of the spring, the RS spring mount/perch will fit the spring for width (notwithstanding the issue of the final winding being flat), however the issue you will most likely encounter is articulation of the strut in the monoball. The monoball in the RS mounts (with spacers) protrudes much further from the bottom surface of the mount than do the Rennline mounts. This allows a gap between the bottom of the RS mount and the spring perch which means the strut can move in an arc as the suspension moves up and down. The RS spring mount is concave on top which works fine with this extra length, however as the Rennline ones don't protrude the perch will sit flat on the bottom of the Rennline mount meaning the strut cannot move. See this pictures on Jackal's website (RS Top Mounts) for reference.

Hope this makes some sense.

Regards
GR

Thanks for the excellent info. So, what are the Rennline mounts good for?

Reving an old thread to see if you ever sorted this out? I'm trying to install the rennline mounts now but have run into some issues with proper spacing between hat and mount.
