Default Glovebox won't open

OK, not up there with problems I could have and not the glovebox door loose issue with good DIY's. Mine no longer opens..

**** turns but won't release the catch. I removed the bottom screws, thinking the door would come away but no dice. Holding fast.

I tried worrying the door off the latch but am worried i will break something...

Anybody run into this issue?

Thanks!!

Default Glovebox door won't open - update

Update:

For anyone else that runs into this problem; With bottom hinge screws (3) removed, door will come off - pull up from bottom with slow even upward pressure. Latch will pop off and the side stops so be prepared.

Issue is the nut that holds the **** together (under black cover on left) only needs to loosen up a little for the plastic cam to slide over latch arm vs push the arm to release the latch.

Tighten nut, realign cam cover - screw down, spritz arm with some silicone etc, - replace inner door cover - insert side stops and reattach bottom hinge. Door is tighter now and opens fine...

Default Glovebox won't open

The culprit for me may have been a recent DE day. Between use and bouncing around I can see nut under the cam cover loosening up occasionally. I'm going to check now from time to time. I can see it now.....seriously officer, I would give you my registration but my glovebox won't open....not expecting any mercy on that excuse.

I have a somewhat different glove box issue that I wondered if anyone could help with:

On my 2008 C2S, the glove box door has lost it's "damping" effect. It no longer lowers slowly, it just falls open.

Is this something I could fix myself? Is there a hydraulic strut of some kind that I can replace?
