I was driving down the freeway yesterday and couldnt stop looking at a 991's rear. I realized, that for me at least, the 991 is the only beautiful 911 since the 993.
I dont think the 996, 997 and late 70s/80s 911s can be considered beautiful. Good looking yes, but not beautiful.

The more i see 991's cruising down the road the more I find them to be very attractive. They are soo streamline and yes larger but honestly they don't look too big or over sized.
Pictures really don't do them justice, I just saw a beautiful aqua blue metallic Carrera S on the I4 the other day. I was in the fast lane, 6th gear at 85mph and he was behind me for a few minutes before I decided to merge over a lane and waved at him to close the gap to ride side by side.
I really love the body lines, the quarter panel meets the rear bumper nicely and the led taillights imo looks amazing. I'm a fan on there small size.
Plus, the black painted rear lower valence hiding the quad exhaust tips look great. Personally, I would take off the Porsche and 911 emblems, I would strip the carrera S and paint the "S" red and the "carrera" satin black.
I like this base black 3.4L 7-speed manual. If you notice the wheels are painted platinum semi gloss, I clean yet expensive and stylish option.
You can go nuts selecting options on these cars, I spent a good hour last night building several very different 991's

Bizarre - these front quarter shots are the first ones I've seen where I noticed the part just above and beyond the rear side windows is just a wee too thick, lending a whiff of the Panamerica to the whole business.

997 vs 993
Some more pics Turbo and C2S's. All with suspension upgrades to make it more equal comparo.
If you compare the 991 style to other modern competitors, IMO it looks great, one of the best out there! Keep in mind every new car on the road now is big.

991 Carrera S
It really is a car you need to see and drive in person. Most photos just don't do it justice. Different from previous 911s? Yes, but a most worthy continuance of the legacy.
