I personally 'like' Berryman's B12 in every 2nd. tankful (600 miles). I've tried Seafoam but it makes the engine smoke a LOT! Speaking of smoke, I also put a cupful, or so, of Marvel Mystery Oil (in the fuel tank) every 4th. fill-up (and skip the B12). 48,000 miles on the odometer, no CEL or pending codes, regularly get 25mpg (and I don't drive 55!). Now mind u, all the benefits of the above "additives" are diminished if you don't keep up the maintenance on your spark-plugs, wires, distributors and filter!

Latah,
Gerry
Thanks for that info. I am going to start doing this as well. No issues now and hope to ward them off for as long as possible.

Latah,

Gerry,
I know that I have blocked SAI ports that cause the CEL. I'm in the process of installing the SAI CEL device that Lewis manufactured right now.

Car has only 115K miles and runs great.

I do not like to regularly run the additives you use through my engine, but to each their own. I'm not aware of any reliable evidence that your additives provide any measurable benefits. So for me, I'll stick to gasoline and a little Techron every now and then.

Oh, and thanks for the reminder on keeping up with the maintenance. I think that I do a pretty fair job on that, too.

LATER,
Phil

Yup.

Earthquake lasts 30 seconds and a big one comes every 20 years or so.

Montreal winters last several months and happen every year

Could the Seafoam smoke be from the removal of "bad stuff" in the combustion chamber, or from the product itself? I have read a number of recommendations for it on other marque forums.

Guys: FWIW. I was curious about Seafoam for my 993. To check its claims I had my 150,000 mile Dodghe truck hemi tested at the smog station one day. Then ran 2 pints of Seafoam through it and had it tested the next day. Passed both times, but same results, no improvement with Seafoam. Only discernible evidence was the smoke while running the Seafoam.

Mine just passed smog again today. Cross my fingers every time I go. You got to love California, $60.00 for smog cert and $350 for registration.

$350 for registration, really? My 993 only costs me $98, and I live close to you. Hmm, wonder how that is?

Isn't registration fees indexed to the declared value of the car in CA? Mine wasn't $350 either. Will have to check what it was...

Went to get smog-check the other day and failed (hi HDC). The very next day the CEL came on. Code 1124 O2 Sensor. I put a new one in and the light went out. I am also planning on doing an Italian Tuneup using Jectron and Valve Cleaner.

Wish me luck!

I just sent the check off to DMV, I stand corrected, it was only $327.
