Los Angeles to Halifax: the blue '96 coupe delivery blog
Many of you know that I sold my '96 coupe to Garth's chum Lloyd. I just spent a great evening with my new friend and his wife Joanne. I picked them up at LAX, checked them into their hotel and we had a great Mexican dinner in Redondo Beach. They drove off about an hour ago (sniff)
They have perhaps a Rennlist record drive in front of them, but they plan to check into this thread every day or so to report on with their progress and hopefully meet a few of you on the way. I believe that they'll be near Monterey tomorrow and Napa then Reno on Sunday. Send positive thoughts their way!

Chuck, Thanks for the great hospitality, we had a great evening and the car is fantastic, never really know 100% until you see it but it drives great for the 6 miles we put on it so far. Under the watchful eye of the Valet Parking last night, we are heading out early today to get ahead of any rush and get into our day so we can have a little extra time to stop and enjoy some oif the great scenery we are expecting. More later. . .

Did you say Valet Parking? Chuck - did you not go over the Rennlist rules.
Best of luck with your new (to you) 993. A wonderful trip is ahead.

I should explain when I said "valet" parking. The valet watched while I parked.
We were up and at 'em this morning, on the road before 7am. Just a little excited to get behind the wheel and on the road to Route 1 and Monterey.
The Pacific Coast Highway is, to use Chuck's description, a transcendent piece of highway. The most awe-inspiring views to be found around every twist and turn. The blues of the Pacific stand in contrast to the stone-washed cliffs and mountain sides covered in scrub brush. Definitely a bucket list drive.
The drive reminded me of our very own Cabot Trail back home in Nova Scotia. That, too, is a sublime drive offering spectacular scenery.
The car handled beautifully, hugging every “s” turn with tons of grip!!! The best road straightening kit I ever drove!!!
We stopped several times to soak up the views and stretch our legs, including a visit to Hearst Castle. Enjoyed a fantastic late lunch at Nepenthe in Big Sur. Talk about lunch with a view!
From there it was on to Carmel-By-The Sea for a stop at Mission Ranch. Unfortunately, Clint wasn’t home, so we headed to Pebble Beach via the 17-mile drive, enjoying the view of the 18th hole from The Lodge balcony.
What a fantastic day! Time now to rest my eyes and my shifting arm.
Thanks to all for the good wishes.
Tomorrow, Napa.
Chuck’s Garage for the unveil!!!
Twistie roads and unbelievable bridges. . .what a drive!!!
