The ONE common factor of all these really high priced 993s lately?

Maybe he or she should have priced it at $50K or more.
Maybe it's me and poor eyes, but I can't find the listing for the '96 White Cab anymore!
If so, that was really fast. Or it's coming back with a higher price.

I agree with the OP in that a lot of people go fishing for a price and never get it. However, I think it somewhat foolish to discount the idea that a low mileage RB C2S is worth significantly more than "market price" for other similar cars. Time and time again, you see in the collector car community that there are a few great examples which sell for vastly more than a typical example and these prices tend to diverge as time goes on (with the great examples appreciating at an exponential rate). This is true in all collectibles. An excellent Picasso is worth significantly more than a run of the mill Picasso and has shown significantly more appreciation in both % and $ terms. Obviously, this becomes more apparent in situations of highly limited production (GT40s, old Ferraris, rare works of art, limited wine production, etc.) and high demand. Additionally, a lot of it has to do with timing. Personally, I don't think the time is there yet where 993s will see exponential price appreciation. Maybe they pace inflation. However, I am not the one dictating the market as you indicated. That is left up to the mass of buyer and sellers out there. But clearly we are talking about a limited production car to begin with (the 911). And even more limited spec (C2S). Plus take into consideration attrition and growing wealth in countries who received highly limited numbers of 911s to begin with (China, etc.), and I think you will see a global market somewhere down the road where people think, "Oh man, that RB 98 C2S sold at auction for $500k and I could've bought it for $100k" because clearly that has happened to us time and time again as we progress in age, has it not? FWIW, I'm not saying I agree with the prices, but I think patterns have been pretty clear on this sort of thing.

Is this 98 Cab priced to sell? I am told by the second and current owner that it was among the last 30 air cooled 993s produced. I really like it but.............
