When the PPI was done on my car, they said there was some very slight play in the tie rods. They recommended replacing the tie rods ends at some point. Hopefully, I'll be doing my suspension upgrade soon (HD/M033 and Walrods). I'd like to have the tie rod issue addressed at the same time.
I've been searching the Forum as well internet for replacement outer tie rod ends. I cannot find them. I can easily find the entire tie rod assembly and the inner, but not the outer?
I am no mechanic, but is just the outer available or do I need to replace the entire tie rods? Or just the inner?
Any help is appreciated, along with a part# for the inner if you can just get that!
I am sure someone here will sell you some used outer tie rods that are in serviceable condition. If you remove the inner tie rods this is also the perfect time to have them drilled and pinned
Check with Suncoast, Pelican or TC's Garage, I am sure the tie rods are available new if you want to go that route.
Thanks, I have found used outers, I just didn't know if that was a good way to go, I was thinking they could be worse than the one's on my car. But of course I have really no idea, lol! I've had no trouble finding new tie rods, I just didn't want to spend the money if all I really need are the outers.
OK, educate me, what is the benefit of drilling/pinning the inners?
Porsche doesn't sell just the outer pieces; only the inners. If your tie-rod ends are worn, you will need to purchase complete tie-rod assemblies.
You may also find someone with some low mileage ones that were removed for the EVO upright/tie-rod upgrade, too. Just be certain they are better than yours are since you don't want to pay twice for an alignment.
