Default Needed -Alignment and corner balance in Chicago land area

Does anyone know of a good shop that can do an alignment and corner balance on a 993. Called Napleton Porsche and they wanted to charge 580 just for the alignment plus an additional 4 hour to corner balance which I think is ridiculous.
I which I was a little closer to my old Porsche dealer in Michigan. They only charge 150 .

Anyhow, if anyone can recomend a good shop in the Chicagoland or Northwest area would be wonderful.
Thanks in advance,
Al Z

Try Perfect Power in Buffalo Grove, il. That's where I have gone to in the past and will be going there again soon.

Fischer Motors in Lake Barrington for an alignment. Rich Fischer is the owner 847-304-8822. He'll charge you about $230ish. Mike does all of his alignments, great guy and great work.

Default 993 align/corner balance

Al--also try Euroquipe in St. Chas. (Tim Kautz). I've pm'd you his info. I know Fischer and PP also do good work--not sure whose least expensive as I have found "least expensive" and "Porsche" to be mutually exclusive terms.

Just wanted to revive this thread since I was looking for the same thing.

Perfect Power quoted me as much as $420
EuroSpeed quoted me $330
Fisher quoted me about $250
Rennology quoted me $200
Euroquipe quoted me $150

Can anyone else comment on their experiences with any of these shops? Specifically Euroquipe?

I have used Midwest Eurosport with success. I used Perfect Power once, and though they did a good job, I thought they were over-priced. The Exchange does not advertise this, but they have a very good air-cooled mechanic from what I have been told - you might give them a call.

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples..... Simple alignment vs. corner weight vs. setting ride height. Very different things.

I had Fischer do my 993. $250 is for camber / toe only.

Exactly. A quality alignment......about an hour. Corner balance and the other stuff........a few hours at least.

If it needs kinematic toe......add some more.

Try Al at Chicago Performance and Tuning in Melrose Park. He does all the work on my racecar and supports a handful of PCA racers.

I trust Midwest Eurosport for both 993 and 968 P cars and would highly recommend. They have 2 locations - one in Joliet at Autobahn and one in Bensenville.

I picked my car at Perfect Power and met the owner Sol. Very impressive shop and selection of cars. If I was In Chicagoland, that's who would be doing the corner balancing and alignment for me. As to the cost, my local independent shop quoted $350 for corner balance and alignment, however they don't even own the kinematic tool and borrow it....hmmm. Some people are familiar with Autometrics who quoted around $450.
Yes it sounds like a lot, but if you figure a national average of $100 per labor hour at a shop, that's only 4.5 hrs.

After my recent installation of PSS10s and bushings, and a basic toe alignment, I believe it will take more than 4 hrs. The rear suspension has so much adjustment and especially the kinematic. Waiting for the suspension to settle a little and drive appx 500 miles before deciding on where to go.
