High Mileage 993
Ran across a 97 993 with 117k miles. It looks like it's in pretty nice shape and I realize it would need a ppi. But what price range would you say it should fall in? Thanks

Coupe? Cab? Transmission? Color? Climate?
All else equal, would you rather have an 85k miles car that will need a clutch, front brakes, tires, spark plugs, caps, etc. or a 120k miles car that has had all of that done in past year?

LOL, I'm about to hit 140k miles and I challenge anyone to stand my car against any "lower mileage" car out there, in terms of condition (interior and exterior) and overall mechanical soundness.
Think of it this way - a higher mileage car means it was driven, and a driven car, many times, is more well taken care of than a lower mileage car. All I'm saying is if you do the math, ie mine is a 1995 (delivered in 1994), then that means something like 8k miles per year on averages (give or take). Definitely within reason.
If it's a good car, with good documentation and checks out well, and is a combo you like, then I would not hesitate to consider a car (at least a 993) with this type of mileage.
Good luck!

In terms of fair market price, I can't help you. I know I would take a cleaning if I sold, even in the existing condition of my car, desirable color and mods, etc.... Doesn't matter, car is staying in the family!!

As far as value, solely depends on model, condition, colour, options,PPI, records, etc, etc.

Thanks guys. It's polar silver coupe with black interior. It's a 6-speed. It's had 3 owners is presently in AZ and the owner says he has records. One other question. Any thoughts on a 82 that was converted to a 993. It has a 3.0 and 915. Thanks, again

Mid-high 20s,low 30s if top end, suspension and clutch have been done. 117k is a drop in the hat for these cars.
The 82 would have been a 911 SC originally, and is a great car in it's own right. It really depends on how well the conversion was done.

Forget the 82. FrankenPorsches are never a good thing. Still a number of variables like mods, etc but color is popular. Mid 20s sounds about right to me

It amazes me that we, the Porsche enthusiasts that know the cars so well, are the very folks who depreciate the cars so heavily based on mileage. These cars, with exception of the valve guides sometimes, are astoundingly durable. I know there is one RLer with 278,000 and has not had the heads off. I think the reason we don't see more such examples is that folks are afraid to put miles on their cars for fear of the depreciation hit. We are defeating the purpose we bought the cars to begin with, just mindless. I will end my rant now.....Chris

Here's a silver 96 w/ 101k miles w/ a buy-it-now at $25k. I would bet even $$ you can have it for $23.5k, or maybe even $23k.
