I agree with axl911.
The folk that I come across, who appear to appreciate the dulcet sounds from our engines, are guys driving Subaru STI/WRX's.
I'm routinely around the 4-5,000 (6 too!) rpm mark when I'm going from 1-2-3 and down-shifting thru around 4,000 rpms - if I seriously need to skootch pass some dufus in a Plymouth Voyager in the left lane doing 50mph (don't get me started)) - (and) as I approach traffic lights.
Our engines were meant to rev, so I don't deprive them of this need, and yes, because life is short, and Gawd doncha just love that sound.
