Thanks very much for these links, Knight, I did not find those particular ones in my search. The indexing trick sounds interesting and I'll give it a try - never heard of it before.

if i can do it without jacking up my alignment i'll take this on at home in the very near future.

no for real:
this is the eccentric bolt:

I bolts into the control arm/balljoint bracket. You just have to line up the scribe marks/paint when reinstalling and you should be fine.
The eccentric basically messes with the castor.

so thats the only part that needs to be indexed? that gets marked, then the rest of the arm just unfastens and pulls out?

You rang?
I have driven a car with fresh Billstein/M033 and for me, the ride was perfect .. like stock but more control, not harsh at all. I think it's important to know that with the Koni FSD's, the lowering is limited to about a half inch which is almost unnoticeable from stock U.S. ride height .. with the Billsteins, you have a full range of height adjustment .. including standard Euro/R.O.W. ride height .. approximatley 1 1/2" lower than U.S. ... which I find to be a perfect street height for trouble free driveway and curb clearance without having to worry about scraping up your front bumper/splitters.
Wow .. 45K miles? Well .. I'm at 30K and I have a very slight wobble feeling through the steering wheel that comes and goes .. I guess I better take a look at mine ..
Man, I thought I was DONE!
Thanks, skl2. Bilsteins are my second option. My only concern with them, although I am not sure, is that the bilsteins will offer a harsher ride than the Konis. I'd rather have a slightly softer than a firmer ride, as the roads the car will eventually end up on are not particularly good. The car will not be tracked. What is the ride like with the m033 and bilstein combo? In terms of hard/soft?

Do you access to a second set of wheels for testing?
When I first got my car I spent a long time chasing a vibration that ended up being a bent wheel. I found it by swapped a friends wheels onto my car for a test drive. With the other wheels, my car was vibration free, so I knew the problem was with the wheels/tires.
Anyway, that test might help isolate the problem between suspension/alignment and wheels/tires/balance
