Default 10 inch rear wheels on widebody

Is there anything fundamentally wrong with running 10 inch rear wheels on a widebody 993 if spacers are used?

I would assume there is some sort of performance / handling impact, but I am not sure.

Do experts advise against it?

Thanks in advance.

An oe fitment was 10ET40, this is the same fit as a 10ET65 w/ 25mm spacer.

the lower ET does 2 things
1) moves the wheel out so that it appears to fill the wheel well better
2) widens the rear track

the effect of the wider rear track is more understeer/less oversteer

18x10 is the stock wheel for the WB. It's the correct offset that you're looking for so you won't need any spacers.

The factory 993 turbo twists for a widebody are 10", so there is no issue runing 10" whatsoever. If you are referring to running the narrower offset narrow-body wheels, there is no issue with that either -- using a spacer simply compensates for their offset to make them similar to the wide-body offset wheels.
If you go with the later 996 turbo twist wheels, the rears are 11".
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the input. Yes, I am looking at a set of 10" rears that were on a NB therefore figured I would need at least a spacer to compensate for different offsets, but I am new to this so wanted to double check first.

There is a nice set of 996 TT hollow spoke twists for sale in the parts for sale section. It is perfect fitment. Well, you can add a 5mm spacer but that is cheap and light.

Why bother with spacers to make it fit right from NB offsets? It just adds weight.

Yeah, it's not ideal, but a friend of mine is willing to cut me a deal and give me first dibs on a nice set of wheels. Anyway, I have heard things about how spacers can cause problems with wobble as well. Can anyone here confirm this or speak from experience?

My C2S came with spacers and narrow body offset wheels from the factory. I use those wheels for street tires and have never had any issues with wobble or anything else. I use a set of 996TT hollow spokes for track tires.

Take the NB wheels. Sell it here and then buy yourself a proper WB offset wheels. The money spent on spacers makes up for the difference between the two prices. I bought my 996 spacers from FVD with bolts for a few hundred dollars. That was only a 15mm and 5mm. If you go the spacer route, don't cheap out because that is where wobbles come from.

If you do end up with a wobble and have to sell anyway, then your spacers don't have much resale value where as wheels alone are an easy sale.

I believe Mike J. is running 10" RUF's with 28mm spacers on his Turbo.
