If you LUV the look of the OEM 996 Turbo twists, you may be happy to learn:
RLer EMBPilot (Kevin) has NB 996 Turbo-look twists on his narrow-body Carrera 2.
I'd never noticed them on a NB before. I thought his 993 looked great; the wheels were the 1st that caught my eye.
I think they're aftermarket, but best to contact him directly or search RL for more specifics.

These are 17s, not 18s.

I thought you already had 17s on your car and are trying to up level to 18s?

I would recommend you call someone, talk to them on the phone before you buy any more wheels/tires.
I don't think you fully understand all the differences, and I hate to see you waste any more money.

I can call you, send me a PM or anyone else here I'm sure will help.

Thanks Jager

Frey, i have 18" TT that came with my NB C2 when i purchased it. they are in fact aftermarket wheels but im am 100% happy with them. I will have the wheels off my car this weekend as im doing a brake flush and i can send you info, offset values, manufacture?, that are stamped on them.

Who makes the replicas?

Default Steering Rack brace for 18" wheels

As memory serves me (often poorly), 1995 cars lacked a steering rack brace that one should install prior to mounting up 18" wheels...does this ring a bell for anyone?

Hartmann makes the replicas. I think about $260 per wheel. I have been thinking about this for next year. My problem is that my car is stock ride height and I think 18" wheels would only accentuate the SUV look. Would like to seem some photos to compare. Next question would be what is best size for this set up.

Replicas are a 2 edged sword, cheap to buy, difficult to sell, and generally they are heavier than OEM wheels. Personally the Sports Edition Cup 4 wheel from tire rack are nice wheels, but they too are not that easy to sell without draconian discounts, 60% or greater. The good news, if you ever break a wheel, need to replace a wheel, you can buy just one.

That's what I recall, too - only applies to '95s. I believe there was a TSB on it.

Just a heads up, I bought 4 replica RS6 18" wheels for my Audi from Hartmann. No, check that, I actually bought about EIGHT of them. They looked good but they were absolute CRAP. They bent if you looked at them wrong and the roads in VA are not bad at all. Perhaps the Porsche reps they sell are better quality and/or from a different supplier (the RS6's were Italian if I recall), so they might be fine, but JMHO, I'd pass on the Hartmanns.

The turbo twist II replicas are made in Italy too. They are very heavy.

hmmm someone asked me this same question ...I really should find out how my polished 996 Twist is fitted on my 95' . not even sure if they are aftermarket or not, but I do have to agree that they look great on our 993!
# I got the additional steering rack brace added on mine after I found out from RL that its safer to have that for 18" wheels

The genuine 'Technology' hollow spoke wheels were available in both normal and wide body offsets as option 408. Here are the specs :

8x18 ET52 (Front - all models) .......993.362.136.00 weight 19.95 lb
10x18 ET65 (Rear - narrow body)......993.362.140.01 - 23.36 lb
10x18 ET40 (Rear - wide body) ......993.362.140.00 - 25.13 lb

Making a good comparison to Turbo Look (solid spoke) as came standard on the Carrera 4S or as option 413 :

8x18 ET52 (Front - all models) .......993.362.136.01 - 25.57 lb
10x18 ET65 (Rear -narrow body) ......993.362.140.04 - 29.32 lb
10x18 ET40 (Rear - wide body) ......993.362.140.03 - 31.08 lb

Another possibility for narrow bodied cars is the MY 02 Carrera wheel. These are lightweight, look good, and come in appropriate offsets :

MY02 Carrera
Fronts 8x18" ET 50 19.3 lbs
Rears 10x18" ET 65 23.4 lbs

There are plenty of gen 1 996 18" twists on the market that sellers are incorrectly calling 'genuine 993 tt wheels'. The confusion arises because they also carry a '993' prefix to the part number. The fronts are 7.5" though for the 996 with the part number ending in '06'.
