Default OT: Sold the Rivi Blue Cab. Anyone ever own a 645 CiC

I sold the Rivi Blue Cab to Opo. A great Rennlister and a smooth transaction. I toyed with getting a 997 Cab, and still might, but I want to try something different. Has anyone ever owned a BMW 645 Convertible or know anything about them? Never been around BMW's before. I'll do the BMW foums, but would like to start here first. If the 6 series doesn't fly I may do the Lexus SC 430. I am looking at 2004-08. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Mike

PS - If there is a great 05-06 997 higher mile Cab floating around out there (miles not a big deal) I may look at that.

I hate both of them, I've owned a ton a BMW's and my dad has a thing for Lexus. I'm not a fan of the 645ci, just awkward and tight inside and the SC430 is very soft and not fun to drive.

I should also add that I'd would be fearful of a 645 out of warranty, some people have good luck others don't. I mostly talk to the people that don't.

I thought you sold the Riv Blue Cab because you needed garage space? Anyway, I have driven all three and the 997 Cab is vastly different from a BMW 645CiC which is vastly different than a Lexus SC 430 (upscale hairdresser car, as they would say in Europe). Would strongly suggest you drive all three before a whole lot more research.

Mike,

Man, I wish I could have gotten a crack at buying the gorgeous Rivi Cab! Oh well, sound like she went to a good home.

How about an '08 Audi RS4 Cab? Pretty low production, 420 hp V8 (excellent motor), AWD, low mileage examples running high 40's-low 50's...

I did sell the car due to garage space. Our HOA at the new house has no long term parking on the street. If I had to store the 993 away from the house it would never get driven. Heck it never got driven sitting in my garage. I'm looking for a daily driver. I figured if I could only have one car it might as well be a convertible. I will be driving all 3, but wanted to see the opinions out there.

Never gave an Audi a look. Thanks for the heads up.

I have a 2005 Mercedes SL600 for my daily driver. It has been really fun. The folding hardtop is the best convertible solution in my mind. A twin turbo V12 is amazing. An ECU tune and I have 600hp and 700lbs TQ

You MUST have an extended warranty on these beasts.

RS4.

DO NOT buy the Lexus SC 430. Boring to drive, and more feminine than Charles Nelson Reilly doing the polka on Rip Taylor's roof.

I owned a 2003 SL 500 and really liked the car. I had it a short time. I agree about the warranty.

I've owned a couple 3-series cars and have had work done at Dinan, one of the most famous "factory" tuners of BMW's in the US. BMW's are expensive to fix once they're out of warranty. That wouldn't be so bad, but the kicker is that they depreciate nearly to zero and never seem to be worth anything. The Z8 is one exception. Whereas if you purchase a Porsche, the probability is that they'll have some value once they've fully depreciated.

BTW, I haven't been there in a couple years, but the shuttle rides, when you had work done at Dinan, were given in Toyota's. I asked the Dinan shuttle driver why and he said they (BMW's) were too expensive to fix. No buy!

For something really wild, you could look at a Cobra replica from Superformance or Factory 5...now one of those will get your attention, and everyone else's too.

Not sure that's a good choice for a daily driver.

Opo, you've had that Rivi cab for a week or so and I'm sure you're tired of it already...I'm happy to take her off your hands
