Just drawings ... carte blanche for the yummiest eye candy you ever imagined. I always take any rendering or even prototype with a proverbial grain of salt until I see the production model.
Plus, the illustrator "Wild Speed" isn't a Porsche employee, which means the company has no responsibilty to make reality look like his renderings, IMHO.
OT: He first caught my attention by rendering what a 997 Speedster might look like (on my "Speedster revival" thread) - before Porsche had public plans for production.
Back to Caymans... real versus rendering:

I like the current Cayman, especially when lowered to track height.
The Cayman Interseries cars in classic Porsche racing livery look wonderful. There are a couple running in G and H that look great also.

Anyway, if I were dropping that kind of money on a car (that would depreciate to that extent), I'd look toward whatever GT3 I could get for the price. Or stick with a couple of our air cooleds.............

They just unwrapped a new Boxster at my local dealer. It looks fantastic, and I have to think the Cayman will look even better (I like coupes). Agree that it will really date the 987 Cayman, in the same way the 997 did to the 996.
Very tempting.

Looks like Porsche is positioning the Cayman to be their "new" 911-type sports car, while the 911 in 991 form is going to be their GT luxe car.
Too bad they'll never give the Cayman the power etc. to overtake the 911 in the performance department, since it's inherently a superior design, i.e. mid-engine vs. rear engine.
That new Cayman looks really nice.

I think it looks amazing! This render is probably pretty close, I can't see
Porsche getting away from that kicked back rear 1/4 window that is so
characteristic of the Cayman line from the begining. If I was shopping for a
new Porsche with warranty (in my dreams..haha), The next gen
Cayman would be at the top of the list for sure!

He does graphic design for forums like teamSpeed.com and ************.com, etc.
From the "Porsche Pertinent" thread, well before Porsche acknowledged a 997 Speedster:
The image is TeamSpeed.com, but modernizing 911s with Speedster curves to love? ...Pure Rennlist!
(See this page's starting post, above, of 993s on Porkers.co.uk's "997 SPEEDSTER RENDERING" thread.)
Their "Teamspeed Exclusive: Member Wild-Speed renders the new 997 Speedster!" thread.
Total911.com's "997 Speedster?" page:

And, boy, does it look great! Thank you to TeamSpeed for allowing us to reproduce the image here.
Speaking of Speedsters, we have a full feature on a real – but not factory built – 997 Speedster in the next issue of Total 911.
