Soft backs look perfect in your car... they just seem correct.
Hard backs are great to save if you don't need the cash and will be perfect for a future turbo.

As promised some photo's with both seats installed. Now that I had a chance to compare them side by side I can say that I prefer the softbacks. You can see on the pics that the side bolsters of the softbacks are much bigger and they really grab your body. I am 6'1, athletic posture, I think for larger drivers the hardbacks are probably more comfortable. Did not put them on a scale but by feel they weigh more or less the same.
As for looks, with both types installed I do prefer the look of the smaller seats in a narrowbody car. For a widebody in a bright color I still think painted hardbacks are the shizzle...
Allright, photo's then of both type sportseats installed.....( the only 993 ever??)
Both types installed, the lower part is the same on both seats. As you can see the hardbacks are a lot bigger!
