When I installed my new belts using the existing shims, they were far too tight. That places too much load on the alternator and fan bearings.
You do know that once the belts are installed, you need to run the engine for about ten seconds to get the belts to "seat" in the pulley.
Also new belts are a tad tighter and will stretch slightly. That is why Porsche has belt tension specs for new and old belts and for engine cold and engine hot conditions.
There are two shim thicknesses available for the alternator pulley and one shim thickness available for the fan pulley.

Osu, I purchased a few extra for both pulleys. I did not end up needing them, I stowed them in the car tool kit.
As Alex said, remember to pull the dme relay to turn the motor and seat the belts, then check the tension.

Belt Change Time
I was looking thru some posts last year about changing belts and ran across this mod to the A/C tension adjuster, a simple spacer to move the nut further out on the bolt, and using the 43" belt makes it so much easier. I used a 3/8" drill to clearance a 3/4" long piece of SS tube. Have yet to install as my belts were installed by PO in 2017 and have 3500 miles.
