Im at turn 11. Fortunately I have a friend who lives about 30 min from the track. Montreal was a good race and is a great town to visit and I expect Austin will be a great host city. As a car fanatic you owe it to yourself to see F1 live.

Went to the first F1 race at Indy in 2000. Luckily the friend I went with had a sister who lived in a nearby suburb which made it a lot easier.
Can still hear MS as he went by the first time- actually I think my ears are still ringing. My friend and I looked at each other and quickly put in the ear plugs!!
Seats were right across from Prost 's pits. Still trying to decide whether to go to the first Austin race or to let them work out some bugs and go the second year... after seeing Mario doing the hot laps yesterday on Speed in the Escalade, it looks like they have a LOT of work to do to be ready!!

^^ It would appear very likely a title battle could be being waged when they arrive in TX.

I'll be heading down to Austin from Dallas with a couple of friends. We'll be in an RV so accommodation shouldn't be an issue. Exciting race I'm sure even if the track and the facilities won't be ready for primetime.

I'm in for COTA at turn 12 row 37. I have not been able to locate a hotel in Austin so I am booked in San Antonio. Ed where did you find a cottage in Austin? Can you send me a PM as I would prefer to be in Austin if possible? I am looking forward to this event as the first of many in my backyard.

The last F1 race I attended was GP Europe 1999 with Paddock Club seats complements of my brother-in-law.

Paddock Club got us great track seats, a tent with video displays walking distance to the seating if we wanted respite from the noise for a bit or some refreshments, an open bar, a gourmet sit down lunch each day, the best parking near the Paddock Club area and F1 pit access "walkabouts" as well as access to the Carrera Cup pits. There was even a masseur if I needed a rub down. Really, but I passed.

This would cost arond $4200 at the Austin GP for a two day pass. Usually too much, but at the price of the best seat PSL and seat it starts to look pretty good to me.
