New Family Member, 2007 Cayman S
Last weekend I picked up a beautiful Cayman S up in Sacramento.
Since I had transmission issues with my 993 my wife and I have been looking for a third car to buy so that I could dismantle the 993 for a while and get the transmission squared away.
We started out looking for "normal" cars like a Mini Cooper S... which progressed to a BMW 335i to an Audi S4. None of these were just right until we found this Cayman S for sale with VERY low mileage and not too far from the house.
It's a 2007 Cayman S, it had 2,906 miles on the odometer when we bought it. The car now has just over 4,000 miles on it from driving her home from Sacramento + a few trips. I had to clear out some room in the garage but it was totally worth it. I have a great new addition to the family and finally can take the 993 apart and get the transmission done.
Both cars are pretty filthy so I am going to wash them this weekend and hopefully get some better pictures soon.

I was thinking of posting it over there, but my heart is still with the 993.
The 993 is a permanent member of the family while the Cayman is probably just going to stick around for a while and I will sell it off while the mileage is still low.
Slickster,
As far as fitting the Cayman is roomier. I have a little bit of headroom in it whereas in the 993 I am almost hitting the roof. Leg room is a bit better too. Build quality is lower and and interior feels cheaper (albeit much more modern) than the 993.
I have been in Caymans on the track and driven a few. The cars are amazingly easy to drive and superbly balanced. They rotate very neutrally, but quickly since they have lower polar moments. They are also easier to correct if you do get the back end around. I will not be tracking this Cayman it will be my DD. Having the Cayman will give me the opportunity I need to finally pull the transmission out of the 993 since I have been waiting to tackle an internal issue for a few months now.

Congrats...the Cayman is actually a really nice complement to the 993...love mine and the presence of a hatch and a front trunk almost makes it practical.

I had a bit of a detailing party starting Friday night through Saturday morning. I washed, waxed vacuumed and polished all three of my german masterpieces
The 993 is now on stands slowly undertaking it's transmission-ectomy. I had sort of gotten used to the buggered up transmission but after driving the Cayman and then getting back into the 993 it was painfully obvious that it needs to get fixed (see post https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...h-and-6th.html )

Congrats Peter!
That is a problem. I drove a Cayman for a day when they first came out-not enough leg room. I had to tilt the seat back forward a bit to squeeze another 1/2" in legroom. That killed them for me.

It might just be the way I drive, which is fairly close to the dash (knees slightly bent, arms at close to a 90 deg angle when holding the wheel in both hands) but I am 6'0" and have at least an inch of room behind my seat to adjust back further. For sure the Cayman has better head room than the 993.
I took the Cayman through Elfin Forest down here in San Diego today. I love the car, it's much more fun than any of the alternatives we looked at but I immediately missed my 993. The 993 "squats" out of corners better and is tighter feeling.
