Ok, I am now the owner of a black on black 1997 C4S!
I drove it home(4.5 hours) from Michigan yesterday afternoon and had a smooth, rain-soaked drive.
Things I loved:
1. The steering
2. The heft of the doors shutting
3. The sound of the engine
4. The smell of old(er) leather
5. Not breaking down
6. The sunroof!
7. The adjustable seat
8. The fact that I now own a 993!(the best thing)
I took some pics and will post up a larger write up of the experience to help those thinking of buying their first Porsche & 993.
Many many thanks to limeyboy for all of his assistance in the process. My first post on Rennlist resulted in an offer from him to do a Rennfax. I had no idea what that was but I do know that it is a special thing to get unsolicited help as a newb. Everyone is a newb at some point. I totally will return the favor and pass the good vibes on down the line.
Next up I leave for a 4500 mile round trip out to SF to visit friends. I am hoping I discover no "issues" on the way there and back. If I do, well, trial by fire is a learning experience.
Thanks Rennlisters!

Congrat's!
You have experienced nothing but typical rennlist treatment of a potential new 993 owner. Everyone will go out of their way to welcome you, answer your questions, and even take personal time to go look at a car for you.
Now, everyone will pile on to help you spend mod money.
Enjoy your new ride, there's nothing like it.

Monsieur LaFlamme.....Congrats and have fun, these are the perfect road trip cars.
Great alias btw, my hockey playing son has all of the one liners from "Goon" down already...Xavier LaFlamme plays the spoiled quebekker superstar hockey player in the movie....a movie that has to have set a record for F-bombs, makes Slapshot look like a Disney flick.
"Where is LaFlamme?"
"Probably giving some single mother herpes out in the parking lot."
"I think my eyeballs just ejaculated!"
"You're a crazy mxxxxxx fxxxxx. Tabernac BAM!"

Congrats. I am in the process of buying a 97 C2S and am also in Chicago. We will have to keep each other posted with local news, offers, etc. Enjoy the trip. There is a lot of nothing between Chicago and SF.
