Sounds like you have quite the quandary on your hands. Tell you what I'll do, I'll just take that car off your hands and you won't have to worry about it anymore. I know, it's a big thing of me to do. But just this once, I will do that for you.
Cobra misanos look beautiful, seem to fit athletic frames but perhaps overkill and pricey considering the car won't be tracked. Just looking for something I can fit in that is supportive...
that's part of the porsche charm...nothing we can do about it. however, seats can be swapped.
has anybody ever sat in recaro sr-6 seats? I have access to an almost perfect condition pair for a very decent price...
Oh, one thing to mention here. 993s, like most current small cars, don't actually have the seats centered on the steering wheel. Instead, the driver's seat is very slightly turned inwards so when you use OEM seat you feel that steering wheel is centered and staring at the middle of your chest.
No such luck with aftermarket seat brackets. Your Recaros will make you **** your hands to the side.
I had the same experience with the stock 993 seats. I am 6'4" and 180 lbs. I added 997GT3 seats and it transformed the comfort, support, and hold me in very nicely. I can easily drive the vehicle for hundreds of miles at a time without discomfort.
The 997GT3 seats sit slightly lower than stock, and definitely lower than 996 sport seats. BTW, I am sure that any 997 seat would fit and be much more comfortable.
You will, however, want to get the seats with manual front to rear movement. The seatback movement is power. It would be more of a challenge to wire up a fully powered 997 seat.
