DIY brake caliper clear coat
Just finished cleaning up my calipers with some VHT high temp clear coat. They look so much better. Basically I just used some 1000 grit sand paper and wet sanded to get any loose edges of the clear coat that was peeling off. Be careful to just do a really light sand. You could go through the caliper paint pretty easy I think. Then cleaned them with a wheel cleaner ( i had some p21S). Rinsed, dried, taped off everything except the caliper and gave it a few coats. Not too much to it. Not as nice as having them professionally rebuilt and powder coated, but a nice improvement. I couldn't find the VHT clear coat anywhere locally so I ordered it Amazon for like $12. If anyone locally wants to use some let me know. I have plenty left.

Looks good, will be interesting to see how it holds up.

That is really nicely done - thanks for the share! Also, like Michael - I have a couple of calipers that has some clear coming off - and I'm guessing I'd have to strip the whole caliper - then repaint/redecal first as the patches are rather large, with a slight discoloration where the patches have been off?
Anyway - thanks again for the share!!!

calipers+hats
I followed the same approach as 996scott, but (a) used Wurth/saBesto GL Clear Laquer Spray PNT (Hey; its German!) and (b) hit the disc "hats" with dull grey Rustoleum to cover up some rust spots.
FYI-Wurth/saBesto Silver Wheel Paint, art.# 18921821, is an exact match for our Porsche OEM wheels...may as well take care of any blems on these "while you're in there".

The Porsche logo was in good shape so I did not have to do anything at all for that. Just put the clear coat over the whole thing. Yea, it will be interesting to see how long it holds up. I would bet a couple of years probably. We will see.
