First AutoX planned in the 993: No headroom
I am 6'1 and with my last car,(S2000) I was forced to buy a Mugen hardtop if I had to wear a helmet for track.
Noticed I barely have any head room in the 993- In fact my head crashes into the roof on a few "whoop-de-doos" at speed on local freeway transitions...
So does everyone else have to get different (lower" seats to track the car with helmet use? Maybe I my driving position is not "gangsta" enough.
Thoughts?

I had to learn to drive with my seat reclined or my helmet would hit the headliner. I mitigated the problem by taking my car to the helmet store and finding the lowest helmet I could find. Finally fixed the problem with racing seats...

Makes life without a "support vehicle" tough on those events that include Concourse AND track events, eh?
Maybe removing some vertebrae would be easier.

I'm 6'1" too, even w/ Recaros as low as possible my helmet barely fits
These cars are just not set up for big guys w/ long legs, the next issue will be the steering wheel too far away.

Yes, and the further back you slide the seat, the less headroom there is. Very frustrating.
My 997 GT3 seats helped a little. They sit a little lower. I hear that the 996 seats are higher.

I take out the cushions on my Recaro Pole Positions.
Another thing, I found I had less room when I replace my old motorcycle helmet
with an SA approved helmet.
15 years later, Porsche hasn't improved the headroom issue in a Cayman either. I crossed that
car off the list.

Had the same problem. I did AX with the sunroof open and a piece of blue tape along the edge of the sunroof opening so I didn't wear the vinyl along the edge as the helmet banged into it. BUT you can't run with an open sunroof on the track.... Only 1 way to solve that problem , right?.....GT3 seats!!!

I thought I was the only one with this issue
I am 6-2 and I can feel the static between what little hair I have left and the headliner, can't imagine wearing a helmet in the car, i would never fit

6ft, & I need to move the seat back a little more, & kind of arch my back in the seat for my head to clear with a helmet. You just make due with the tools you have.
Mike for the LOVE OF GOD, replace the fender clear bra!

Mike, if I replace the fender clear bra I'll need to take care of the rear bumper, front bumper and other little imperfections. When you address bumpers and imperfections you might as well do full re-spray. When you get a full re-spray people look at you funny and think it's a new car. When people think it's a new car men get envious and loose women want to date you. When loose women want to date you you get cocky and try to show off. When you try to show off you lose control and slide off the road and wake up in a ditch. Which leads to new round of addressing bumpers, re-sprays, etc. Not to mention replacing fender clear bra again.
Don't end up in a ditch! Do not replace clear bra in the first place!
PS. Yes, preceding was a blatant rip-off of DishTV current commercials. But the reasoning still holds a lot of merit, no?
PPS. Hank Moody is my hero, kindred sole and idol all in one.

This is not a shamless plug for our line of Corbeau seats but this is how I got more than enough headroom without breaking the bank.
I'm 6' 2" and have a long torso or as some may say short legs (30" inseam) and I never fit with any helmet in the stock seats, so I installed a pair of Corbeau A4 seats with a 5/6 harness sub slot installed and most importantly, a shaved seat bottom on the drivers side seat which now gives me almost 2" of clearance and still has enough padding that my gluts don't hurt on long drives or around town.
If you need the headroom and cannot afford to put some OEM GT3 seats as kjr914 suggested, take a look at the Corbeau line of seats and give us a call for special rennlist 993 forum pricing for my fellow 993 owners!

I lower the seat all the way and have to recline the seat back a bit more than normal.
