Hmm, just checked the katalog and apparently they also made it in vinyl ...993 555 083 01 cover strip leatherette. My car had stock vinyl interior but this part was leather, so maybe mine was an oops.

AFAIK, the 4 spoke stock wheel is covered in leather.
I plan on treating mine this weekend so I can swap in the stock wheel for the track wheel it has now. I like the alcantara covered track steering wheel but it has no airbag and I don't plan on wearing 5 points for daily driving.

I am still new to 993s and am wondering what materials are used in our interiors. For example, is the headliner leather? What about the dash and door panels? Some plastic is used for sure but with the age of the materials I am just not sure what is what anymore.
I would like to go a bit deeper with detailing the car but need to know what materials I am working with first. Any help would be appreciated.

My standard C2 has the supple leather option and 12 way heated seats with crests. So all the seat surfaces are leather front and back but the rest of the interior is like all other standard cars with vinyl every where else.
Always wanted to get leather door and side panels from someone who was striping out their interior for a track car. Never has happened. So if anyone has Classic Grey interior leather bits hanging around that you want to get read of let me know.

Leather is nice but vinyl is much more durable. I had full leather in my 87 911 and the front and rear dash were all warped after 20 years. I always thought Porsche was a bit cheap not to install full grain leather in all the cars but maybe Porsche limited the use of leather for a purpose. Leather is good on things that you can touch like the shift ****, steering wheel, door handle, etc.

The Porsche Environmental Manual will (roughly) tell you the types of plastic used throughout the 993.
I have to say though it is kinda like reading through a how-to postmortem.
