Can I get my car's immobiliser code from the dealer?
I would like to program additional remote key fobs for my 993. However, I do not have the immobiliser code for this car. :-(
Could I obtain one through an official Porsche dealer? Perhaps the guys in Stuttgart can trace it with my VIN?
Thanks!

Yes. But hopefully the unit is the original one and never replaced, as the
new code may not be registered with the Porsche system. Just go to any
dealer with your ID and VIN number and registration.

I called one dealer to check if I could come in with the proper ID and get the code. They had no idea what I was talking about. I tried a second dealer and they gave it to me over the phone.

Ya know, I was thinking about this the other day! My car only came with one key! It also has the drive block protector. If i lose the key and the separate fob that locks and unlocks, I'm pretty screwed!! Is it even possible to get a duplicate spare key without going to the dealer and what about a spare remote?!?!

It's possible some key shops might have the correct blade that could be cut.
The remote is a 'dealer only' type part.

I had to fax over a copy of the registration in my name and then they faxed a printout with all the numbers -- immobilizer code, radio code, and some others.

A shop can do that while the car is in for service and while they're at it, program a spare remote and cut a key. Months later, you might be walking out to an empty parking spot.
I'm still for appearing at the Porsche dealer, with the car, title and photo ID.

Sometimes that is not possible - there is no way i would take my car to the Porsche dealer here, NO WAY (long story). So what's a guy to do? Well, I used another dealer a ways away, and faxed them the registration and that was enough.
