You should try to stop in Bruce Canepa's shop in Scotts Valley (just a few miles up hwy 17 from Santa Cruz). Amazing display of some beautiful race cars, sports cars and hot rods.

Matt
Sounds like a fun trip

You can't go wrong with all suggestions so far
Too much to cover so....

If wine is a priority, dry creek appellation in Sonoma county is out of the way and home to some fantastic wineries
If you want suggestions, let me know
Really depends on personal preferences

Livermore has some great wineries. Pinots, La Rochelle is one of the best wine makers in the area
Then there is Monterey county...
Further down south Paso Robles.... already mentioned

So much to experience... with some great roads in between

Enjoy!

I just got home from the trip last night. It was fabulous. We had so many great days in so many places including the NorCal Rennlist gathering. Thanks to all for the travel suggestions. We certainly couldn't hit all of the places but visited a few. Big Sur was the end of the road and was great. I spent more than a a new ISV on dinner for two at the Post Ranch Inn but it was worth it . In total we travelled 3800 miles. Oil usage was less than a quart for those that must know. The car was flawless.
