Very good point (and great song). Ken was fine, which is the most important part. If he was such a horrible driver, he would probably have been in the hospital. This Loren fellow doesn't know what he is talking about. Ken has been to at least a couple dozen of our (www.team-racing.org) events and we have never had a complaint from the flaggers or the drivers. I think Loren is just jealous of Ken's awesome car collection.

Ken,

You aren't the only one who received a nasty e-mail,.......

My parents taught me if you cannot say anything nice, don't say a thing. Priceless advice for the ages, I'd say.

I don't know Loren, or why he comes across so angry/bitter, but I humbly suggest you all listen to the lyrics to Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue"...

Mixing him up with another RL'er, I sent him an email regarding the repair-ability of a small circuit board. I guess this could explain why I never heard from him.

"I've been reading his "stuff" for over 10 years and its just unfathomable to me how he keeps, much less grows, a customer base."

- Steve Weiner -

Maybe clarity what's implied by "stuff".

Actually, my business is doing exceptionally well, especially since an overwhelming majority of the
business comes from Porsche dealers and independents.

Some people should walk away from the Internets for a while.

Loren ... presuming you are the guy Ken (racer911 or something like that) talked about... is your opinion of his driving capability based solely on his wreck in the Speed Yellow? Or have you, like myself, actually shared a track with him? I am only asking because he is a very revered instructor of ours. I am not trying to start a fight, but asking you if you know the big picture or not. Stuff happens at the track. Sooner or later, you make a mistake. I have not wrecked, but I have had my share of taps and pushes when I still raced professionally. So, please tell me... was your opinion of Ken really based on one video? Really?

I am now convinced never to post any video of my mistakes. I used to think it was a good way of preventing others from making a similar mistake. But eegads... so much for that. I guess???

Thanks for your time, Loren.

Interesting post. Maybe I'll pull up my chair and watch for a bit?

For the record, Steve has done more for this site then most anyone else...

And that, my fellow rennlisters, is the definition of understatement.

Thanks John

Steve has done more for 911 enthusiasts, on Rlist or not, then most anyone else.

Here is part of an e-mail I received from Loren this morning and while I'd not normally share such things, the tone & implications are far from friendly or civil and deserve a response. I usually ignore such communications not dignifying such things with a reply, however this one deserves some airing out.

Loren,........I've not used RL (or PorscheList or PorscheFans) to 'dig' for business; I've simply tried to give something useful back to the Porsche community since 1997 without expectations of any kind.

I'd kindly remind you that "you get what you give", and insulting people won't endear you and your services to anyone. Another idiom is "what goes around, comes around", and few people are excepted from that one.

I'd recommend improving your people skills.

My deepest apologies to all, however this one struck a chord.

NOT that I am at all complaining, but this thread might have been better titled something like the "catch all thread." Lol. It has turned out, at least for me, to be a true learning experience.

somehow reading this thread has me playing an old tune in my head from Cindy Lauper: "True colours, your true colours shining through"
