Scarlett Has Arrived!

Scarlett Has Arrived!
Well, the search is over! After many months of searching and researching, I've pulled the trigger on a new-to-me 98' C2 Cabriolet. Scarlett arrived last Friday and I've pretty much been either cleaning or driving her since then. She's pretty heavily optioned and has 58k miles. 60k service performed and aside from a few imperfections typical of a 14-yr old car, she's in great shape and drives wonderfully.
I live in VA and I found the car in Dallas, TX at RAC Performance. I'd like to give a shout out to Spencer Heitman at RAC. I was pretty tough on him through the negotiation process but he represented the car well (if not a SLIGHT bit generous on describing some of the car's imperfections) and he was fair. He was willing to work with me through the PPI process as well as having the car looked over by some very tough critics (Brian-bbs993tt and Patrick-Texas993).
I also want to give a HUGE shout-out to Brian and Patrick. These guys both did a thorough RennFax for me on the car. I can't tell you how much I appreciate them taking the time to shake the car down for me and give me their honest opinion. They are both great guys who love these cars and I owe them both a big thank-you and a beer next time I'm in Dallas.
Also, big thanks to Vic (vjd3). He really helped me get educated on these cars and was a tremendous source of information.
Until the car showed up last Friday, I'd never driven a Porsche. As I was reading the forum postings from 993 owners, I could see how much you folks love these cars. They are unique and as Brian said "they touch on 4 of the 5 senses in way that is really unmatched by other cars". I'm here to tell you, now I know what you guys are talking about - it is a true pleasure and joy to drive this car in ways I've never experienced.
These air-cooled cars are special. I feel more like a preserver of a legacy than the owner of a car. I'm fortunate to be one of many "keepers of the air-cooled flame". I also want to thank my beautiful wife for allowing me to cross this experience off my Bucket List!
Looking forward to many years of smile-filled ownership!
Glad to be part of the club!

Congrats
Congrats on the new ride
It looks BEAUTIFUL
I know exactly what you mean about the bucket list
I am only 41 but I felt like a woman with her clock ticking
I could not WAIT to pull the trigger
Enjoy it in good health

YThanks much! Yep, I'm 42 and felt the same way. I figured I'd get it now while the kids are small (8 and 10) and they can fit in the rear seats and they are far enough away from driving and college that I don't have to worry about wrecking it or selling it for at least a couple years!

Nice first post!
Congrats on the car, Chris, and welcome to the club. You'll find that arena red is one of the most loved colors next to riviera blue and speed yellow. Unfortunately, none of these are as fast as the polar silver examples.

Chris, congrats on your new ride. Great post and I'm new to the game as well, what I've seen on this forum are a great bunch of guys that are more than willing to help a guy out. I hear the guys at RAC are critical of the cars they sell, seems like you had a great experience.

Yea, I was happy with the overall experience-getting the PPI done and having Brian and Patrick check out the car for me really gave me the peace of mind I needed to pull the trigger from 1200 miles away!
