Default Airbag light stays on for up to 2 min, no fault shown

So the shop says they checked and there is no fault. However, the airbag light stays on sometimes as long as 2 min, then goes off.

I saw this thread: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...eferrerid=7241 but that seems to be the cure if there is a fault. If there is no fault...thoughts? Suggestions?

Thanks,

Seems to happen if the battery is low and you make it go 'lower' by trying to start the car (without success.) The voltage-sensor in the air-bag unit is VERY sensitive and goes nuts.

It will 'register' this voltage-anomaly and will convey this to you by turning on the air-bag light (upon ignition-on) for 2 mins, then go off.

There is NO "airbag fault" per se, it's just telling you that there was a voltage problem (which was temporary / was resolved.)

The boyz in your shop need to turn this "status" off, that's all. (Durametrics or Porsche/Bosch unit should do the trick.)

Hm. They said it wasn't showing anything, therefore nothing to turn off. I'll ask them to check again. Makes sense though, as potentially the voltage got low during sitting at the lot and then getting shipped across country, then sitting at the new shop.

Just to cover all bases, check main ground strap at the battery/frame. It would be a good idea to replace it with a new one from a FLAPS.

2 issues come with age and miles. (Or so I have been told!) resistance in the actual cable can build up, and the actual contact points - body and battery can benefit from cleaning and re-seating

My car did that and durametric showed no faults also. Tell them to choose clear all codes anyway. It does not make sense but the light went away for me after doing that.

Had the same 2 minute light after battery was disconnect. Dealer reset the light, light came back after a week, indie reset it again and so far still no light (4 weeks).

Re-solder the connections on the clock.

Follow David Ream's DIY

THEN have the air bag light reset and it should fix the problem. It did for me!
Good luck
