Similar story here, except that neither of my son's (17 & 10) will take it.

I'll give it to one of them, or who knows, if things go well, maybe to one of my grandkids instead.

Do you guys think you will keep driving it as you do now? Were going to have some crazy mileage 993s here haha. I wonder how long these engines will last!

It's a keeper, just need to stock upon any needed parts before they aren't available!

Bob, after Tony drove your car and raved about it, did he give you an offer you couldn't refuse?...

This is not easy for me. As most of you guys know, I have lived and breathed this car for almost 4 years now. Outside of a major engine rebuild (which the car does not need) I have messed with almost every system on this car. It is a little shocking on my end too...lost sleep 2 nights in a row now over the thought of passing on my C2...and I'm a sound sleeper!

I've been thinking about a new project for a while now. I'm not even sure what it will be.

I've mess around with so much German hardware over the years that I am considering something exotic/ possibly Italian

My biggest concern however, is loosing touch with the 993 Rennlist community. I consider everyone on this forum a friend of mine in one way or another. I partake in many other forums and no other forum even comes close to this one.

Stay tuned

Bob-

Default Who could get rid of this???

Baby is fully set up for the track, BUT, remains street legal. She has had some "work".
Suspension,
RS Interior,
Exhaust,

And some other tweaks.

This car just keeps getting better and I have had her since december 1999.

She also has her own cat to keep the mice away!

Martin, what wing is that? It's really interesting.

Default THe wing?

That is an Aero Kit 1B wing. It was available from Porsche as an option. The one on my car is aftermarket, seems to be Getty Design. The Aero Kit 1B kit when purchased also included:

1. Aero Kit Side skirts (That I don't have)
2. Aero Kit Front bumper/splitter (That I don't have)

Baby has:
1. Factory 993 RS side skirts
2. 993 RS Club Sport front splitters (aftermarket)

Thanks for asking.

BTW, I believe this is the only tail, other than stock, legal in PCA Club Racing in stock class. The tail has approximately 80% of the surface area of a 993 GT2 tail.

Just curious why would this be legal and RS or RSCS isn't?

Was this offered as an factory option here in US while RS & RSCS weren't or?

Interesting thread. I have had my RUF longer than any other car - 4 years. Most of my cars last less than a year.

However, I know that I will never be able to replace this car. So I am keeping it!

21 years later, I still own a 1990 BMW R100 GS that I bought new at the dealer in 1991, so I think long term ownership of the 993 is a sure bet...most things of quality usually are. I know what I want, I know what I like and I don't bore of them easily.

Put another way...
  • My (insert name of object)....yes.
  • My (insert name of object)....maybe.
  • My Porsche 993....never.

Sorry Al.
