Battery tender with cigarette adapter. Has worked great for 3 years+, just be sure that light is NOT blinking after you plug it in, that means it's not charging. For me it's easier than getting to the battery.
Thanks everybody for you input! Thinking about the ctek 3300 but I'll take a look at some of the others that were suggested.
John, thanks for reposting on the 993 forum.
Hope everybody had a Great holiday!

Works great, however, I do not
trust the cigarette lighter plug in.
Have several CTEK models, the 7002 works on several battery types and can be used to supply the car if you take the battery out. The 993 cigarette plug is wider than current standards...you have to move it around to make sure the connector stays in (same with your cell phone etc.) If you slam the door it will likely move enough to not charge. Just make sure it is charging after the door is shut...you are good to go. Much easier than connecting to the battery in a 993.
I have a CTEK that I use with my 997 and would like to alternate to the 993 as well. Do you guys just plug in to the cigarette plug in the dashboard? The 997 has 3 different cigarette plugs some of which are switched and some aren't so it is important to use the right one.

Some owners plug into the cigarette lighter which on my 993 is "hot" all the time, and others plug into the charging harness that connects directly to the battery. I use the latter method.
The SOLAR PL2208 Pro-Logix 8 Amp Automatic Battery Charger is what I run. It's good for conventional batteries as well as AGM batteries like Odysseys and Optima. It's one of the few chargers that is recommended by Odyssey. No fan and no annoying noise.
I've been using the first generation Porsche unit continuously for about seven years with no problems at all. Plug and play- it doesn't get any simpler.
+1. Except mine has been used for almost 12 years with no problems.
