There's two and its basically a metal ring in a plastic/rubber piece and the plastic rubber bit on mine had torn allowing the shifter to "move".

Here's a link to the part mentioned http://www.vertexauto.com/UserData/I...rge/119577.jpg

If anyone was doing the Golden Rod I would advise them to replace these at the same time just for piece of mind.
Is it easy to see if they are bad from visual inspection w/o pulling linkage apart?

You'd think someone with transmission rebuilding experience would have chimed in by now.

The Amish Yodel has his car booked with ClownSpeed this weekend. Hopefully he'll get some resolution for this issue.

Postponed due to a broken parent. Parent is fixed so now time to reschedule.

So we finally got around to this. A little turn actually loosened up the shift travel a little bit and it is not as stiff. Definitely better but I am still not completely happy with it compared to others I have tried.

I'm still hoping this stays on pg 1 and somebody knowledgeable answers the question. I don't mind experimenting, and will, but before I do want some help to know what's being messed with.

If you go to this URL http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf...SA_KATALOG.pdf and navigate > Main Group 3 "Transmission" > Section 302 "Replacement transmission case etc." > Illustration #302-05 where the adjuster (parts 29 to 35) is illustrated.

It appears to be a simple friction piston operated through a spring against the shifter shaft to change the force required to move the shaft.
