Default Tiptronic S Conversion?

I have a 1995 993 Tiptronic with the gear selector on the console.

Question: Can I add the Tiptronic S steering wheel with the gear changing google switches, and make it operational?

I have a feeling this can not be done with the standard Tiptronic.

Thanks for your replies.

Yes it can. I do not know how. If you want a steering wheel with toggle buttons I have a black one from my wife's 96' cab. I would sell it for $200.00 plus shipping. If you have the money I would buy a 340mm wheel with aluminum paddle shifters from FVD Brombacher. PM or email me if you want the wheel.

Does any one know if my car is pre-wired for the steering wheel toggle buttons?

Yes. welcome to the club.
All you need to do the conversion is documented in this link with part numbers, steps, etc from the factory.
Stroll on the site, members here have grouped all 993 documents there. If you need anything, just ask,
best regards

77'3.6vram and geolab,
Thank you very much for your replies. What a great forum!
I plan on doing the conversion and would be interested in buying 77'3.6vram's steering.
I just got my 993 last week and I love this car! I will post some pictures soon...

you are welcome.
Another alternative would be the later 3 spoke tiptronic steering wheel and airbag.
The 3 spoke steering wheel is a direct fit as well.
I have changed to three spoke back in 2003, and love the upgrade.
Prices at that time were low.
I remember I purchased mine for $50 without the airbag.
The airbag I got brand new for $250, but now prices have gone up, but you could
still grab one for a low price from time to time.
Check out both configs and you would have an idea what suits you best
