Default Hole in my new speedometer glass

As there is no replacement glass for the speedometer with trip I thought I'll take on the challenge and order one from North Hollywood and give it a try.
I am happy with the result and the glass matches the other dials now.

Is it glass or plastic? Either way, very nice job.

Thanks Mike.
It's the glass replacement from NH.
My plastic one had too many little swirls on it. Plastic would be easy to drill through. Don't ask me how many hours I spend on this one......

Just curious....did you try a good glass shop? I'd be surprised if they couldn't do this for you. Beautiful job however.

I wanted to take on the challenge but yes that would have been my next step.

Thanks

North Hollywood Speedo lives and eats VDO. They are the source for instrument fixes.

Jo-hans,
I thought NHS offered a replacement glass lens with hole?

Because they shipped me the solid glass I assumed thats all they sell and so I went ahead drilling. Looking at the email exchange he never really confirmed it was the one with the hole in it.
So I just called them and the woman I talked to said they shipped the wrong one and she will ship the right one out right away. Well that was easy! So ignore my statement in the first posting - they do carry them!
Great customer care NHS!
But I wanted to have this glass ready for the gears I am getting tomorrow from OG so I can do the gears and glass swap and button her up. Btw, no gear failure yet, just one of those while it's out and open. (All dials are out to replace all 11 light bulbs) Maybe I should wait for the new glass to arrive - the shipping takes one and half week and I am impatient. Except for a few very small chips on the edge of one side the one I cut seems good to use.
Just wondering who else has done the plastic to glass upgrade or thinking about it?

cheers

I'm thinking of doing this also. My 964's speedo plastic lens has some splotches on it and my gas gauge's lense is cracked.

Mike - I decided to stick with the stock bulbs. But I did modify to LED's on the center console lights above the switches.
