What kind of driving are you going to do? How important is ultimate grip? Price?
Cheapest out there would be the Sumi HTZ III, but it's lower on the performance scale.
Very, very high on the performance scale are Yoko AD08's but they are also high on the price scale.

I just put a set of Mich Pilots on my C2S and I couldn't be happier w/them. To save a little, I went w/the 'N' rated on the rears and non 'N' on the front. Since I average a little under 100mph on my weekend drives, I figured I didn't need the 'Ns' all the way around!

Hankooks here, too. Even pressed them into snow service last winter when there didn't appear to be chain control, was too lazy to put the snows on, and got caught out on the way back home. Work fine, and after 10K miles I flipped the rears on the rims so they should be good for about 20K.

I've had a great experience with my Sumi HTRZ-IIIs on my C4S, and have not noticed that it's lower in performance; neither does Tire Rack.
All in, I bought 4 tires from Tire Rack a while ago, and got them for under $700 with a Tire Rack special they were running.

800 miles on new Hankooks all the way around. I really like them. Given how often the 993 eats rear tires this set up will be a little more wallet friendly. I replaced Conti Sport Contact 2 tires. Hankook's handle just as well but are way more comfortable and quiet.

I used Sumitomos on my Boxster with really good grip and wear. The 993 I just bought has Kumhos, but I'll probably replace them with Sumis when they wear out.
