Default The mile vid:)

A friend who happens to be one of the best directors over here made this vid. There is a 993 somewhere there, but the other cars are, ahem, in a higher level.

Just really an airport stretch, like the ones used by Top Gear etc for maxing out a car in a straight line.

Saw that too!

Subic bay is a very special area. A huge US military base there too.
My father was a director at the Wärtsilä Land and Sea Academy that was opened in 2005 in Subic Bay. I regret that I never visited there, allthough we spoke and planned about that many times. I think I will have to go there one day.

I spent 15 months at Clark AB with the Air Force, and one night in Subic.

Not sure you really want to go visit there--you may want to pack heat!!

i watched the first minute or so.
I'm pretty amazed that there are that many "exotic cars" in the PI!

Cool vid! Nice to catch a glimpse of the silver 993 in there. Spent a day out at Subic Bay many years ago, but mainly recall going to a small casino, drinking juice from a coconut, and trying to stay cool in the heat.

I've never been one for over the top super cars, but "the black bat" (Murcielago being Spanish for bat) is one of those cars that you just have to admire the culmination of a decades of evolution in a car maker that never lost their way. One might question their way ... : ) ... but you have to respect the achievements.

And yes, helluva professional video -- very hard to do ... and all the harder when it's made to look so easy.

I also liked the way all those different brand enthusiasts were involved, they made it out to charity and it didn't look like an anti-social tire-smoking, street-racing "scene." Nicely done.

It occurs to me that all motorsport events should go to a "carbon offset" program of some sort, especially for the wealthy drivers in their luxury exotics ... carbon credits or reforestation program charities ... nothing especially expensive, just get an estimate of the carbon footprint or non-renewable energy for whatever event per car ... the driver puts in at least 1x that "footprint" ... maybe 2x or even 10x to pay something forward ... then all the tires and gas and oil are offset and the sport becomes self-sustaining instead of being seen as the enemy and the cause of global climate problems, etc. After all, all the cars at the track today don't amount to a sneeze compared to just a few minutes of jet fuel burned at any airport while "executives" fly themselves around to "network."

Holy Crap! Subic sure has changed since I was there. Last time I was there was in late '83, long before the base was turned over.

The navy base was actually in Olongapo and Subic City was a short Jeepney ride away. Consumed a LOT of San Miguel over there. Have a few slides of the old Olongapo.
