You could always go with a Ferrari without a back seat.

A good driver is an aware driver who uses their superior judgement so that they do not need their superior skills. (comes from the flying world...only some words were changed).

A BMW or Audi...for a 16 year old???? Whatever happened to basic transportation?

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but any of those cars is going to be trouble on many levels; ask me how I know.
I suggest a beater Subaru also....cheap, plentiful and easy to fix.

Thats the one.It also had a classy brown velour interior... very 80's chic. Its one saving grace at least on paper was the factory twin carb fuel delivery.

I went through this about a year back. I originally thought $5k to $7k, quickly found out closer to $10k was needed for something to my liking. Ended up with a 2007 Toyota Corolla S 5 speed with 50k miles. 126 hp, 32 mpg city and 41 mpg is what we've averaged. It's actually pretty fun to drive, has decent room F & R, big trunk not to mention the reliability reputation. I know, BORING, but it'll get them around comfortably, safely and frugally, hopefully for a long while.

considering it's gonna be a city car, short dimensions would be a definate plus. How about an older golf/jetta? Should be fairly reliable, nice driving dynamics, and reasonable build quality.

Nice platform for making it your own with minor mods too.

Best of luck

Rick,

Your daughter is very mature and responsible and obviously takes after your wife. Give her the 993 and get yourself a turbo.
