In the other thread about this car, it says that this car has failed smog several times per the CarFax report. That would worry me a lot. Rebuild?

Rebuild? What? The fact that it failed a few times before it finally passed is probably related to those readiness codes that get reset when you disconnect the battery. The fact that it passed would indicate that there is no issue there. The bigger concerns are the cosmetics.

Well, my thought process was that it's a "higher" mileage Turbo and would appear to be neglected to some degree.

The fact that it passed? Passing smog via a dealer's used car lot would certainly worry me, although I wouldn't want to cast any aspersions on Peter Pan, since I don't them at all. It might not worry others, but it would definitely worry me. But then a PPI would tell you what you would need.

Chao-awesome Turbo you picked up. Jeff (dfwporsche) and I toyed with the idea of me picking up that car as part of our trade. I spoke with the FD boys and was sold on the car. In the end I wanted a more stock WB car.

Thanks Mark! I am glad you got your WB car. Its true that the good cars don't get sold out in the open. They get traded within the Rennlist/Pelican community. I feel fortunate to be a part of this wonderful and trusting group. Some people must think we are crazy to wire this kind of money around to people on the internet for toys sight unseen.

Stopped by to look at this Turbo, today. It is sold and going to Germany. It actually was a really decent car with what looked to be all original paint. It really had a lot of potential.Would have been a great driver.I had one just like it with 19,500 miles.Sold it,what the hell was I thinking?

IF this was the same car that went on sale in december (in Vancouver), then it
was far from "in good shape"..The previous owner of my car had a PPI done on it
and ended passing despite the jaw-dropping price: it was listed for $37K.

Maybe not the same car, bottom line is: PPIs are a no brainer.
