Modified Intakes Manifolds

Found this on the web. Its a 1984 SC with a very nice intake manifold (note the reversed cone filter!)Is this something you can buy somewhere in a different guise (I'm guessing not) or are things such as these one off fabrications? Any info would be appreciated as I'm looking into this and might be doing some serious power upgrades sometime in the near future.

one way to go is what they did on the 993Cups, no MAF sensor, uses MAP to control mixture, but has poor idle control

A much better approach is individual throttle bodies

even better is ITB's w/ a resonance chamber plenum

High butterfly MFI! I can't imagine why they'd have that setup, absent OE requirement for show or vintage rules. It's basically the stock air filter for everything from Day One to the end of the 911/83 (aka RS) engine production. While we were in the dinosaur era back then re: dynos, pretty much everyone put the dual K&N filter setup on everything but the Ts. Truly a difference? Who knows!
What are the "serious power upgrades", and what exactly do you plan on ending up with if you spend half-to-as much as the car is worth to do it properly?

JMHO, but there are many good performance options for you that are less expensive, depending on what you do with your car as well as your budget.

Did that one get my attention when I first got into these things! Never seen one in person. None were used here competitively, were they?

I think you now know what engine its from, (cant beat this place for knowledge!) I also think Porsche have a pretty good idea of how to make intakes, they do a little testing and tend to come up with the best results.
On a n/a 993 get Wayne to remap it. If you want more power after this, sell the car and buy a turbo

Bill, thats some good info and pics to boot! Thanks! Keen on the ITG individual throttle bodies. What other modifications are needed to run a setup like that, and where is good to source a kit from? Guessing those TB's are a couple of grands worth easy. I always do things properly, with NOTHING skipped or done cheaply. At the moment I'm running a full decat with a BMC cone filter.
911PERVY, I've already had a live map and produced good results after a decat. Your other point was a bit , well, pointless wasn't it! Thats like saying "if you want a bigger house after you build a shed, sell it and buy a castle". Thanks for that very in-depth and technical feedback. Put the kettle on.....

Maybe what I should have said was bang for buck dont bother doing anything, unless you have £20K to spend on something that wont be worth anywhere near that and wont improve performance by more than about 10%. The remap and exhaust are the best things you can do on your car, now it becomes crazy expensive for very little. The cone filter has probably reduced power TBH
And yes, if you want a bigger house you can build an extension or move into a bigger house. A bigger house is the easier step!

This is the Singer 911 engine made by Cosworth
Is the intake manifold from a GT3 RS?
Could you describe the parts used in this engine please?
3.8 conversions have been made more than 20 years, and this is something not new.
My specialist recommends several brands and parts, but I cannot identify them in a single picture
Besides, Singer Vehicle Design used to give the whole info when their engines were built by Colin Belton (9M), but we don't have the Cosworth engine's specs
Do you know it?

for most of us that don't raise the rev limit stock intakes and RS or SS cams w/ stock internals as long as the valves clear the pistons are more appropriate
