Why does the 996 seem to be cheaper than the 993?

How can it be WRONG, when I clearly say that it's what it means to me? You can deny all you like, but they do look like fried eggs...Maybe you have come up with some flattering explanation for the "fried eggs" analogy, but to me, it because that's what they look like.
Also, please point out anything in my post that "slams" the 996.

Do you see fried eggs here? These are the lights on the 996 from late 1999-2001.

WRONG.
Those are not the same lights. Similar, but not the same. Yellow blinker is not in the same place. Here is a '99 Carrera: Yes, I see fried eggs. Nice try though, if a bit clumsy.

The picture you have posted is of an early 1999 model. The amber lower portion of the headlight was changed to clear, similar to the GT1 picture that I posted, in late 1999. So the only 996s that have the so called fried egg headlights are the early 1999 model cars.
You can argue with yourself from here on, I'm out...

Although, you are the one who cannot seem to grasp this very simple concept. Just like the rest of this thread...very embarrassing.

The 993 is a fine car. The 993 is not a perfect car. However, some here seem to delight in purposely grinding 993 owners' noses into whatever imperfections exist with the car, in addition to having the bizarre inability to see the matter objectively. We call these people who exist to incite "trolls", and their need to confront the group is a patent attempt at trying to feel superior. Please see the DSM IV for this quasi narcissistic personality disorder or, perhaps, borderline personality disorder.
I gave and even handed reply to the OPs question. I know it seems impossible to some, but not everyone likes the 993. Some actually really dislike it. That doesn't make them wrong.
Really the only time I harp on the 993s faults (and there are a bunch) is when people start calling the watercooled cars crap, not real porsches, non-sports cars, etc etc.
Why does it always have to be that the 993 is the most amazing thing ever produced by porsche and the watercooled cars are junk to a level that is unfathomable.
I've driven 100k mile 996s. Are they perfect? hell no. Do they have some rattles here and there. Sure. Does the plastic chip off the center consoles, hell yes it does. Does that somehow make it a bad car or inferior to a 993...no.
Its just bloody different. It appeals to some, and not to others...tada, just like the 993.

Dreamer: Your attempt to pass off a GT-1 as the standard 996 headlight was lame. I think it's great that you like the look of your headlights. However, they have been widely criticized, and Porsche obviously heard the market and ditched the look. Live with it.
2000 model: Actually, with the placement of the yellow in these, it actually is a little more yolk-like. So it was al of the '99s and 2000s...

haha! I love the "Let's Google the 996" comment...

My idea of the fried egg HL's on the 996's parallels Falcon's. I'd think most people are in the same boat.
I also think they do indeed detract from the 996 front end's looks.

Please point to that in this thread.

I have to agree with you here on all points.
I think Quadcammer is the only one here who has actually offered an objective opinion on the 993 vs 996 debate. 993 owners just get insulted and defensive whenever anyone says anything questionable about their car.
It's true. The 993 is NOT perfect and not everybody likes the look of them. I personally don't like the front end. The headlights are slightly cross eyed from certain angles, and the curved lines around the headlights and pontoons have always been ugly to me. I just got used to it.
Don't get me wrong. I love my 993, but the 996 is a faster, more modern, and more complete car. Looks are subjective only, and both cars have mechanical faults that can be dealt with relatively easily.
