It's an '89. All about the 5 speed trans. And condition, of course. But no -'88 will ever be (from the factory) what an '89 is.

I used to see this from customers way back when, and that's when none of these things were worth very much.

Of course only you can live your life as you see fit. But as we "progress" there are fewer and fewer places to go beyond a pony trot without risking what you've worked all your life accomplishing, right? And not everyone's a track rat who wants a car compromised out in that direction.

Over the weekend there was conversation on a 911 that's run its course with its present owner/builder. Might it come my way? Who knows.

Prices can be all over the board.
There are very few left that are original paint and a lot of these cars were in wrecks. Super low mile, unmolested, original paint cars can fetch some pretty serious money. I know of a 16k miler that sold recently in the high 70s and the seller was offered all kinds of low ball offers but he new there were buyers at top dollar. Car was not even an 89, I think it was an 88 - 4-speed box.
Although the 930 is a total dinosaur even by 993 standards, I think that they are, and will be increasingly collectable due to what I said above. And above all, the iconic status they have in the cars of the last 30 years.

I say this about my wife every now and then, but I've kept her nonetheless. Maybe you should do the same.

Wow Jason, tough decision, I was amazed by your 993 at RR IV, didn't even know you had a 930 that was equally amazing. For a normal middle to upper-middle-class guy, it's an ongoing dilemma. Kind of like the airplane, boat or RV, the two best days of ownership are the day you bought it and the day you sold it. Not sure of your situation but do what feels right, it's not fun if its a burden. At the end of the day, they are just possessions. Having said that...if I could afford it, I would keep them both. All the best, either way you go.....Paul

You know what is the best decision. Make the best decision and don't worry about what anyone might say to the contrary. Enjoy every minute.

I just think I may need to clear the shop out of nearly everything and start over. I did this years ago with quite a few muscle cars. I keep hoarding cars away like no tomorrow without even having the time to use the existing ones. Currently the count is at 30 vehicles (without DD's or water toys) and I've already sold off 5. None of this is motivated by necessity or money, just sanity. Current garage art includes:

3 Porsches
5 Fiats
6 Beetles
2 Type 3's
2 Type 2's
1 Mercedes Benz
1 Isetta
1 48 Pontiac
1 47 Chevrolet
5 Motorcycles
3 Scooters

It's a problem when this stuff consumes you...

Default Nooooooo.

Noooooooo. GLWS if that is you intent, hopefully the new custodians will aspire to do as fine a job as you have.

In life, it is the journey, not the destination, as the destination is fixed.

Enjoy whatever decision you make and whatever new journey comes your way! You have shown yourself to be good people here on Reenlist, so hopefully you will stay in the klan.

But whatever you do, do not give up the smart, the 500, or the isetta

I have had a lot of interest in both cars.

Here are more pictures of both. I can email fresh Carfax's out as well. Both cars have been maintained by Vinnie at Gulf Performance in Pompano Beach Florida since I've purchased them.

930: https://picasaweb.google.com/jdhertz...OCNyvS6tsSAmwE

Would be sold with both sets of wheels, original exhaust etc.

993TT: https://picasaweb.google.com/jdhertz...CJeVzJ3QoLrxRQ

Would be sold with both sets of wheels, original exhaust etc.

I'll look for interior pictures as well.

Please email me if interested because screen name to real name to work email to personal email makes me feel as if I'm making a mess with my replies!!!

Per your own admission.....you never addressed the fundamental problem. I can definitely relate though not on the scale you are dealing with. I do not drive my 930 nearly enough. My 993 has been forced into service as a daily driver or it would not be driven enough either. Having said that I know (from prior experience) that I would not be happy if I sold them. I also know that by nature I'm a bit of a curator and enjoy just having them in my ownership. Now while that might be abhorrent to many it's okay for me. I have accepted it because it's part of my nature. Don't let what others think weigh on you. So if you feel thart selling is the right decision and you won't have any regrets then sell but don't sell just because you think that not driving them is some kind of sin. While it might be for others it may not be for you. Besides somewhere down the road when you do finally sell the new owner will have one heck of a smile on his face.....
