993 vs. 991 Pictures From Today - Early Thoughts

We'll have to wait 15 years to see if the 991 is as much desired and valued as the 993 is today. I don't feel the need to run out to get one as I believe myself as more of a classic preservationist.

Yes, but so is that wheel arch. Anything smaller will look a little ridiculous. At least the rotor and caliper are beefy enough to not look dwarfed by the diameter of the rim. I like the look of the 991 but can't see myself buying one. Its too big......

Wife just came home and handed me the 8 page foldover for the 991 stuffed as an insert into today's Wall Street Journal. There is a prominent photo of a 993 in the montage. (Funny how they do manage to omit a 2.7L era car, or a street 996.)

There wer several at the 48 hours of Sebring this past weekend. It looks best in black or white. Somehow th lines get lost in silver. Also, it looks great with the spoiler down, but the dealers kept putting it up, ruining the "911-ness" of the car. Interior is really nice, comfortable. I like the placement of the shifter, way up high next to the wheel.
I want one, white please.

I would have a 991 in my garage but I am feeling a bit of sticker shock from the MSRP of the S I was sitting in. After reading that the performance is that of a GT3 4.0, the sticker starts to look a little more acceptable. Looks are one thing but the 991 surely raises the performance levels.

still say that it is the largest design jump that Porsche has ever made in the 911
on this page, look at the white 991 and then scroll down and look at Harlann's (will always REALLY be mine) silver 993 S

I read somewhere that any new model 911 has to be safer, more powerful and more fuel efficient than the model being replaced. I'm sure that this car has met those goals. It is the fun to drive factor of the 993 that wasn't met by the 996 or 997. Of the 991 time will tell.....Chris

The new design grew on me pretty quickly - even more so when I first saw one on the road. I think they did a nice job with the details.
'Model designation delete' will be a popular option though...

I can't believe 4.0 levels of performance, but gt3, yes that I have heard
