Default Tires sizes for 17in Cup 2s on C2 Cab

Just bought some Cup2 wheels, kinda a fiasco. After I was done feeling sorry for myself, I decided to just keep them. Seller and I agreed to a nice discount to boot.

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=97793

Wheels themselves are in very good condition but I want to put on some all weather tires. Rear offset is 47 and fronts 55.

What tire sizes can I run a little larger than the stock 205 fronts and 255 rears? or should I stick to that?

Thanks,
Tony

You want 225 front and 255 rear if you want the car to handle more neutrally (understeer less). I would not try to find any other size as this combo gives a very good balance.

Congrats Spidey ...I know you've been looking for a while. Glad you got it worked out!

Yup, 225 and 255. The only thing larger for the rears in 17" are 275 but in the same 40 profile, so you end up with a markedly taller tire, not to mention you'd be adding understeer. With the 255/40 rears, the 225/45 fronts are perfect: the correct height and dials out some of the inherent understeer in these cars.

Thanks guys, I will take your advice.

I also just bought some local 18in Twists. 7.5/10, narrow solids.

Any recommendations there?

Not sure what your saying Joshua..? You mentioned which wheels to a friend? The half OEM half Replica Cup 2s?

If so the situation is this..

If I want the wheels, I do nothing and in 10 days if I don't send them back the dispute is closed and the wheels are mine. If I send them back within 10, I get a full refund minus shipping costs sending them back.

send me an email at joshuaweinstein@ymail.com if you're interested in selling the cup II wheels and, if so, how much you want...

Tony, those 47ET rears are gonna look awesome on your car .. I'd put a 5mm spacer up front to balance out the look :-) After lowering and running 18" Hollow twists on Günter for a year, when I went back to the Cup II's I couldn't believe how much better the car handled You're gonna dig it.

I have the same wheels and am ordering 265/40R17 and 225/45R17 Dunlop Star Specs this afternoon. I had 275/225Sumi's in the rear and it took some adjustable suspension components to balance out the car again (lots of understeer). The 275's looked awesome though!

I'd stick to 255 on the rear as otherwise you might experience rubbing on the fenders with your 47mm offset rear wheels.

Ok, question from the newbie tire buyer.

I see TireRack has best prices Ive found so far. So how does that work?
I buy them, they ship them to my door. I take the wheels and tires to tire shop and the put them together and balance?

Do tire shops do that, and how much do they normally charge?

Or you have have the tires shipped directly to your tire shop. Tirerack has a list of tire shops that they work with.

Mounting/balancing/disposal usually runs $25-30 a wheel.

Tony,
You may want to try Discount tire if they are local to you.. They have given me better prices then Tire rack in the past and you can also get an unlimited road hazard warranty. It has come in handy a couple of times for me.
You may also want to look at the Continental DW series. I have the DSW due to snow on my MB and they work great as an all weather tire.
Good luck
