My problem is that I live in Canada. Great if you need a heart transplant or is you don't want to have to wonder if that bulge in someone's jacket is a hand gun - but terrible for shipping fees from the US.

It's a aero piece. I would NOT run with out.
It creates a low pressure zone for the engine fan & intake. It also directs air over the rear spoiler. You are getting a lot less downforce with out it.
I bet if you take IAT (intake air temp) head temp & oil temp, it will be higher with out, with out the spoiler wall, you are basically running with the spoiler in the down position. The owners manual states to not do that.
