whew...thank God you stated -
inflatable spare TIRE...anyone actually put it to use

I really thought this was a blow up doll thread. How we got this deep into the thread without someone making this seg-way, is disappointing indeed.

I used my inflatable ... tire ... last year. I just hoped everything in that over-engineered system would work, and it did, flawlessly. And it all fit back in its place when its job was done.

Used mine about a month ago. No problem with tire. As for the aluminum jack while turning the threaded rod to raise car the rod handle broke off.

Fortunately I haven't had to use mine but instead used my cellphone to call for a flatbed tow.

Default Used three weeks ago on RS clone- perfect

I would like to know what size and type of brake calipers won't work with the 16in spare. I have big reds (RS rears) and have no problem at all. I would think six piston calipers would be a no go.

John is 110% correct.

Worked great. I was very impressed and amazed. Equally amazed how the spare deflated, and went back into the frunk. I thought that it might require some type of belt and compression process.

Drove probably 200 miles. I had to go from Elkhart Lake to Appleton, WI and then home to the Chicago area. Car did not pull....no vibrations....very smooth. Did not even lean. Even saw a little rain at the end. I have PSS9 suspension with stock big reds.

Manual says not to exceed 50 MPH. I purposely stayed right at 55 MPH because I was on the highway, hugging the right lane, and felt the 5 MPH over the limit was a safer gamble then being on the highway and poking along at 50 MPH in a 55-65 MPH speed zone. And we all know people are driving 70+.

Again, very impressed. Tire shows little wear.

John was very helpful in the process, and another awesome Rennlister (driver & person), Brian B. from the 944 Turbo forum, was kind enough to trailer my rear Speed Line back home at the end of the weekend.

*because I am ****, I did a full concours detail to the spare, including 2 coats of RejeX wax, before putting back into the frunk.

Drove from Lake Tahoe back to San Fran on a Sunday. Dealer said it is a good tire...wears out with the tread, not just after a few uses.

Interesting, where's the frunk on a Boxster?

I saw a RUF 993 a while back that couldn't carry a spare because of the brake rotor size and he had to run either 18 or 19" rims to clear the calipers, and they BARELY cleared.

I did about 225 miles staying below 50mph coming from Maine (where they apparently don't stock beefy tires) down to home here in Boston. Slow, but all good with the spare. I also did the "move the front good tire to replace the blown back one so the spare can ride in front" thing which I heard about on in this thread.
