Default 996 turbo twist

I'm looking at a set of 996 turbo twist for wide body cars that are for sale. How can I tell if they are hollow spoke or not?

Back of the spoke is smooth. Solids are ribbed.

Offsets and width are stamped by the filler valve.

Metal valves.

Search is your friend.

I have searched but there are all kinds of different responses, non that are direct.
Are there any solid spoke wheels from 996 with:
18x8.5 - front ET-50
18x11 - rear ET-45

Trying to get more info from the seller but I want to spare myself a trip if I can.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there were solid spokes in those sizes. Part numbers are the easiest way to tell, I'll check what mine are when I'm home later.

Hollow wheels have metal air valve stems and solid wheels come with rubber valve stems ..

As far as I know, there was only one spec for the WB 996 hollow spoke twists. The posts above are all correct - you could ask the seller to email high res pictures of the front & backside of each wheel; I think that the ET# is embossed on the face of each rim.

Thanks a bunch, the wheels don't have stems attached as they were just refinished. I'll get more pics.

I am pretty confident that the easiest way to tell is the valve stem. When I bought my hollows, they needed new stems. While replacing them, I got to see how he wheels are made and it is impossible for a hollow wheel to have or fit a working regular rubber valve stem. On the other hand, the way the metal valve stem is made for the hollows also makes it (the stem) impossible to work on a solid spoke wheel. I hope this helps and I only use the word "impossible" if you are talking about factory parts. Good luck with the wheels.

These should be the 996 part number. I got them last year for my 993 WB.

front 8JX18 –ET 50 (996.362.136.04)
rear 11JX18 – ET 45 (996.362.142.03)

The ET# and the rim width is embossed on the face of each rim next to the valve stem hole on the wheel...
