Hi
One issue I have found with other cars is keeping the fuel injectors clean.
Fuel injectors become inefficent when dirty and creat an uneven spray, thus reducing you fuel economy.,
I have found on a car with 150,000klms, cleaned the injectors and had an improvment of about 30%.
Thanks,

.....Life to short to worry about the small crap. Porsche or PORSCHE its all same. Keep forgetting we're not communicating face to face so when people read comments they can take things differently.

Good timing on this thread. I am driving my baby more these days (daily driver) and am noticing some rotten mileage, like 15-16mpg average!! Some town, some freeway, some 5k rpm, but nothing crazy.
I tried Stealth 993's recommendation for 38f/45r (I'm more of a 32/34 kindof guy), an the 38/45 made my ride terrible (way too harsh).
I'm on 17" cups, with PSS10's as max softness and new Sumitomo's. 38/45 has got to go!
So, what is the optimal tire pressure then?? I think I'll try 36f/38r next time around!

You could try hypermiling (drafting a big truck).
Not the safest practice but it will increase your gas mileage. Supposedly a 93% drag reduction at a distance of 2 feet.

Other than that, tires, 6th gear, use your cruise control. Don't date fat chicks. (kidding)

Probably more ideas than you want to try, but do a search on hypermiling techniques. Many require a manual trans.
1) Slow down on the highway you'll get much better mileage at 55 than 75 mph.
2) If you are serious, get a ScanGaugeII. You can see how pulse and gliding saves mpg. Unit gives trip MPG, instantaneous MPG, etc.
3) Over inflate your tires, 40 PSI will pick up 5% MPG, better rolling resistance.
4) Turn off engine at stop lights that last longer than 20 sec.
5) Draft
6) no Air Cond
Other stuff too. Some of the stuff requires much more concentration to execute while in traffic, but what else do you have to do sitting in traffic.
