Default 993 Targa roof stuck

My 993 Targa glass roof got jammed at the close position, driver side cable is stripped, I removed the wind deflector and the glass roof and both motors but the tracks still stuck, im trying to free the front and rear axles, I can't move the tracks, is there a locking machanisim that locks the tracks. I will replace both cables and whatever parts needed, this is very complicated system, the car is parked waiting for help from a professional. Your input is appreciated.

I contacted a guy at the dealer thru a friend and told that I have to remove the tracks as the timing needs to be reset on the tracks, there should be some lock to free tracks than remove the whole thing to set the timing, I don't know.

Do you mean is there a lock to remove the tracks?
-or-
is there a lock to allow the mechanism to move in the tracks?

Do I have to remove the tracks to free the machanisim, the glass roof and wind deflector have been removed, the axles are jammed and tracks are stuck.

Cheers

Mike,
I believe that I have to remove the whole top to disasimble the tracks and replace the cables, I went thru mike's website but nothing about unlocking the tracks when they stuck.

check them out, ask for Soreen tell him Ali sent you! Rima is between the 2 roundabouts near the Avenues mall
if you are coming from the 4th ring road, instead of taking a right (to go to the avenues parking lot), take a left and you will be on a rising road, once you are at the highest you will notice Rima on your left so you will need to turn around (either U turn or at the next roundabout just 200m away)

good luck! pm me if you need anything mate

Hi Boursachi,

I checked with Sorin at Rima motors but he appologized and said that he tried to rebuild one Targa roof 6 years ago and it was a nightmare and could not do it. I will have to do this job myself but I need some information to remove the tracks without moving the whole top.
The dealer estimated $7,000 to repair it which I understood that they don't want to get involved, they want to change everything including the 3 motors.
By the way what year Targa you own, mine is 1996 and found out there is a recall on the engine wiring harness.
you can call me to discuss, mynumber 66614111
Cheers

Ahmad, seriously man I am SO SORRY for not checking those threads more often!
I could swear I subscribed for instant email notification.
I just replied to your other thread, and yes Sorin did tell me about that encounter.
He told me to be careful with my roof the minute he saw my car when I brought it to them.

My car is a 1996 model as well.
I saved your digits and will give you a call ASAP. I am on 99702935.

-Ali
