Good to know they're not all dried up quite yet...

*Scratches Kent K-Mart off of weekend to-do list*

Hopefully GC96 hasn't hit up the Everett store.

My understanding is that the formulation of M-1 has changed due to EPA regs that force that the additive package be reformulated to lower the content of Zinc. If true, the quality of this product will be questionable. Anyone have any details on this?

Default "Give me Zinc or give me Death"

That is a valid question.....that has been pondered over endless postings.

Mobil one oil formulations (w/ updated spec sheet) (Multi-page thread 1 2 3 4)

ANYTHING NEW ON THE MOBIL 1 FRONT? (Multi-page thread 1 2 3 4 5 ... Last Page)

Search for these post above and draw your own conclusion.

Really a non-issue. I just toss a handful of these in with every oil change:

While buying windshield wipers for my Tundra at Walmart this morning I picked up 2 quarts of 15w-50 to go with the 8 quarts I recently procured from Kmart for $4.50. They had 4 quarts on the shelf, which is unusual because my Walmart usually doesn't have 15w-50, but when they do I buy it because it is $6.50 a quart. When I went to the register they rang up at $2.50. I did not question the young lady manning the register, I checked out and went back to get the other 2 quarts. Turns out a manger was there and I asked if all Mobil 1 was on sale and he said no, but they were not going to carry the 15w-50 anymore and it was marked down. I inquired as to whether or not they had more ans he said he would check, he asked how much I needed and I replied all of it. He returned with three 6 packs!!! I asked if this was just our store or nationwide and he said he didn't know. It's probably just my store, but if yo're in Walmart this President's Day weekend you may want to check the price.

In regards to the autozone special....and not that I would ever do this, lol, but if you don't need the filter, make your purchase, wait until the sale is done for the month, then you can return the filter and credit a refund for whatever the filter costs normally (IIRC most are about 8.99). I always grab the biggest diesel truck filters as they cost about 13 bucks. So in the end, you can get about 5 quarts of M1 for 17 bucks or so. I have enough filters for daily drivers to take all my non porsche vehicles to about 500k miles each, lol. At one point I would just grab random filters to use at the shop, but eventually that pile got big enough that I stopped doing that and just started returning them.

I can't remember the last time I saw a Kmart. None around Phoenix. I'll try the AutoZone trick tomorrow.
